Eyebrow Treatments

The eyebrows are underrated in their importance, but those who have lost them due to illness, injury, or aging understand that the loss is grave. Even a slight unevenness can distort the natural attractiveness of any face.

There are many solutions—powders, pencils, and block tattooed eyebrows—but so few are as effective and natural-looking as working with me—especially with my experience in over 1000 treatments.

Book a free consultation with me so I can demonstrate and design your ideal brow shape.

Feather Touch Brows or Microblading

This technique involves a hand-held tool for drawing hairlines one at a time. This technique takes a skilled hand and years of experience to perfect as it is all about finding the correct depth and control that will give you beautiful, natural-looking hairstroke patterns.

When done, these treatments can really complement your face and make your eyebrows appear fuller, because of the shallow depth used with this method to create a fine hairline. Touchups are recommended annually, the procedure is definitely worth it.

INCLUDES:

  • CONSULTATION
  • PERSONALISED BROW DESIGN
  • MICROBLADING BROW
  • AFTERCARE KIT
  • RETOUCHING AFTER 4-6 WEEKS

This technique uses a special cosmetic tattoo pen. I will draw the hairlines one at a time with my single needle and a incredibly steady hand.

This procedure takes a considerable amount of time, but done well, it can provide an incredibly natural look. It is gentler than microblading with a smaller chance of going to deep. It also needs regular touchups, but the upkeep is small compared to the value.

INCLUDES:

  • CONSULTATION
  • PERSONALISED BROW DESIGN
  • MACHINE HAIR STROKE HYPERREALISTIC BROWS
  • AFTERCARE KIT
  • RETOUCHING AFTER 4-6 WEEKS
The Powder Brow or Ombre

This is the newest kid on the block, it is becoming more and more popular.

This process is becoming more and more popular.

This technique involves a cosmetic tattoo pen, I use a single needle at a slow speed. The special technique allows me to implant the pigment without greater certainty. It creates a gradient effect—starting lighter in front of the brows then gradually getting darker to the tail of the brow. The pigment is implanted in a speck of pixel dust, creating the appearance of shadows where they are meant to be, enhancing the natural appearance.⠀⠀⠀⠀

The effect is truly beautiful and suitable to all skin types. It also lasts the longest—up to five years with some clients.

My job is to give you the best brows. It is always very helpful if you have an idea of what you want to achieve. If you don’t, then don’t worry. It’s my job to guide you through the process and help you find your ideal eyebrow look.

INCLUDES:

  • CONSULTATION
  • PERSONALISED BROW DESIGN
  • MACHINE OMBRE
  • POWDER BROWS
  • AFTERCARE KIT
  • RETOUCHING AFTER 4-6 WEEKS

Tattoo Eyeliner

For many women, applying eyeliner to create a defined look can be very difficult or a time-consuming task. Many well-known makeup artists have often admitted to finding themselves applying, removing and reapply their own eyeliner to remove wobbles. It smudges and fading by the end of the day. If you wish for beautiful defined eyes then you have come to the right place.

  • CONSULTATION
  • UPPER LASH ENHANCEMENT
  • EYELINER
  • WINGED EYELINER

Paramedical & Art Tattoo

Like all Cosmetic Tattooing procedures, experience and artistic talent is important but in the case of Paramedical tattooing it is even more crucial.

These types of procedures require an extra amount of artistic touch, due to its reconstruction aspect, which is what distinguishes Artist Debbie Labes from the others. Plastic surgeons and dermatologists constantly refer their patients to Debbie.

Therefore, you will be in the best possible hands when it comes to restoring your appearance and look.

Finding a way to transform a difficult, painful or limiting situation is what empowerment is all about.

Whether physical or emotional, scarring seems to be an inevitable part of the human experience.

When scars are the result of a surgical procedure they can function as a permanent reminder of pain and loss.

A woman’s self-image can be psychologically linked to the appearance of her anatomy, and in particular to her breasts.

Therefore, a missing or scarred areola can be potentially devastating. Cosmetic tattooing is one of the ways to turn this into something positive and beautiful – it can be a powerful way to reclaim a ‘sense of self’.

INCLUDES:

  • CONSULTATION
  • 3D NIPPLE AREOLA TATTOO
  • AFTERCARE KIT

AFTER-CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Now that you know what NOT to do, it’s time to share my secret recipe for amazing results! I love a good acronym so here’s one to help you out, just think of:
S – C – P which stands for Semi, Cosmetic Permanent Make-up or better yet, Sooth, Cleanse and Protect!

The day of the treatment: Sooth

Gently blot the area with clean damp cotton round and wipe away any lymphatic fluid build-up then apply a tiny dot of aftercare with a cotton bud to sooth then skin. Do every 60 minutes for the full day. Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymph and will minimize peeling.

DAYS 1-7: CLEANSE

Cleanse daily to remove bacteria and dead skin. (Don’t worry….THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!)

Gently wash your eyebrows each morning and night with water and an antibacterial soap something gentle (I have one in clinic I can recommend). With a very light touch, and clean hands use your fingertips to gently cleanse the eyebrows. In a circular motion gentle cover area in a smooth motion for 10 seconds and rinse with water ensuring that all soap is rinsed away. To dry, gently pat with a clean tissue. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, or AHA), or any exfoliants.

DAYS 1-7: Protect

Apply a rice grain amount of aftercare ointment with a cotton bud and spread it across the treated area. Be sure not to over-apply as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The ointment should be barely noticeable on the skin. Never put the ointment on a wet or damp tattoo. Here are some extra tips to help with a smooth and easy recovery.

IMPORTANT REMINDER

  • Use a fresh pillowcase
  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color
  • No facials, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 2 weeks
  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week
  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.
  • Avoid heavy sweating and long hot showers for the first 10 days.
  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days
  • Avoid swimming, lakes, hot tubs for the first 10 days
  • Avoid topical makeup including sunscreen on the area for 10 days
  • DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT SHOWERING

Limit your showers to 5 minutes so you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair. Your face should only be getting wet at the very last end of the shower. Avoid excessive rinsing and hot water on the treated area.

Remember, with the proper prep and aftercare routine you will have much better results with your all your cosmetic tattoo procedures.

Don’t forget your new favourite acronym:

SCP – SOOTH, CLEANSE, PROTECT!

Cosmetic Tattoos Frequently Asked Questions

  • Client consultation choosing an eyebrow shape and color
  • 45 minute numbing process using lidocaine topical
  • Measure and mark brow shape using a waterproof pencil
  • Pigment is applied with a manual tool and chosen pigment color
  • Pigment is left to absorb
  • Cleaning of the area and apply numbing gel
  • Repeat steps 4-6 one to two more times
  • Entire treatment normally takes 120-150 minutes

As a rule, it is a very gentle treatment and feels like a light scratchy feeling, however if required you can purchase numbing from any compounding chemist, this cream is applied to numb the area before your appointment. It is essential to recognise that everyone feels pain differently and levels vary from person to person, your comfort throughout the entirety of the procedure is of utmost importance. Personal circumstances such as the timing of a menstrual cycle may increase discomfort throughout the procedure.

A multitude of individual and lifestyle factors will affect the longevity of your cosmetic tattoo including the following:

  • The time it takes for your body’s skin cells to regenerate will affect how the skin grasps the pigment. The longer this process takes, the longer the pigment will hold.
  • The time it takes for the skin to absorb the pigment will also affect how the skin grasps the pigment. The slower the process, the longer the pigment will hold.
  • Lighter pigment colours such as blonde will fade faster than a dark brown pigment.
  • Bleeding during the procedure reduces the amount of pigment absorbed. It should be noted that substances which cause blood thinning such as alcohol and certain medications should not be consumed prior to or following an appointment.
  • Thyroid medication may cause pigment to fade faster.
  • The constant exposure to the environment of the facial area promotes a faster fade in comparison to covered parts of the body.
  • Sun exposure will decrease the appearance of the pigment. Once healed, sun screen is to be applied to the area to reduce the risk of fading.
  • Smoking causes faster fade.

As a precaution, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing if any of the below apply:

  • Pregnant/breastfeeding
  • Epilepsy
  • Cancer
  • Blood thinners
  • Diabetes

You must be 18 years or older to receive a tattoo service from Artist Debbie Labes.

Cosmetic tattoo treatments generally last for one – two years as each unique skin type holds pigment differently. It takes two appointments for your eyebrow treatment to be complete. I recommend clients revisit the clinic approximately 4-6 weeks after the initial appointment for a retouch. In most cases there will be areas in the brows that haven’t taken to the pigment as well which is what we address at the follow up appointment. The areas that need addressing are generally very minor, resulting in a short appointment. In some cases, it only takes one appointment for brows to be complete, but for flawless results we recommend booking the follow up appointment. It should be acknowledged that fading occurs due to increased sun exposure, contact with facial chemical peels and also when a lighter tattoo pigment is used.

Eyebrows will be filled during your session so it’s not necessary to do this yourself. Make sure you have had a good night sleep the night before something light to eat and low stress levels. It is imperative that medication which causes blood thinning is avoided for a minimum of 72 hours prior to a session. If you are unsure, please check with your doctor but these generally include medications such as Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin (vit B), fish oil and Ibuprofen (found in Advil and Nurofen). As well as certain medication, alcohol and caffeine is to be avoided the night before and day of your session. Exposure to sun as well as UV tanning bed exposure should be avoided for 30 days prior and following your procedure due to the risk of skin exfoliation. Your appointment will be rescheduled and the deposit will be forfeited if you show up for your treatment with a new tan or sunburn. PLEASE NOTE: If using prescription Accutane, you MUST wait a minimum of six months before considering undertaking a cosmetic tattoo procedure. The procedure cannot be performed whilst on Accutane.

As each person’s healing rate is different, a minimum of two sessions is needed which occur at least four weeks apart. As mentioned, a second session will determine how each skin type retains the colour of the tattoo pigment as well as the skins healing rate. During the first week of healing, colour will appear dramatically lighter. Any desired adjustments can be made in this session to create a darker or bolder tattoo.

PLEASE NOTE: If you require a previous tattoo re-worked, consultation or a photo MUST be emailed to us PRIOR to booking an appointment as results on such cases cannot be guaranteed. We must assess whether previous work can be covered up or re-worked and will almost always require touch ups or removal. Removal will be necessary if previous work is too dark, dense, discoloured or large. This service will be charged accordingly.

In the first few days following the procedure, pigment will appear dark and intense and redness and swelling is rare, but might also happen. During the healing process, the pigment will gradually appear lighter in the first week.

Long-term care for your cosmetic tattoo is imperative in sustaining bold pigment. Factors such as individual skin type, pigment colour and lifestyle choices will affect your tattoo in the long term. It should be acknowledged that increased exposure to sun will contribute to a faster pigment fade so sunscreen application after healing is highly recommended. Chemical peels, laser treatments or other medical procedures to the facial area should be cautious of the tattoo area. You must advise your technician as care must be taken around these areas.

To achieve natural looking eyebrows, a thorough skin analysis will be undertaken. This will predict how the skin will hold the pigment, and will analyse the skin’s undertone to ensure a perfect colour match to your existing eyebrow and hair colour. Four weeks after your initial procedure, the second session will determine how the skin has responded to the pigment and any alterations can be made if necessary. As mentioned, individual and lifestyle factors will affect how the tattoo will fade but the majority of our client’s tattoos stay true to colour and fade naturally over time. It is recommended that clients return every one – two years for a top-up appointment as fading will generally create a lighter and softer look to your eyebrow tattoo.

There are some cases where cosmetic tattooing will not work depending on skin type, existing hair and/or lifestyle choices. Iron deficient or anaemic clients should be advised that increased bleeding may occur during the procedure as well as a faster fade of the pigment over time. This is also the case for frequent smokers. Clients with oily skin types should acknowledge that microblading for eyebrow tattooing will not work well as the constant oil production will gradually soften the look. For clients with little to no existing eyebrow hair, the results will appear much less natural and will give a less 3D look to the eyebrows.
